Tales From The Lakewood Staff Room....

What a hilariously fun and creative morning we had today! Today during centres, groups rotated through a writing station where we brainstormed a variety of creative (and wild) things they think our teachers are doing in the staff room!

After brainstorming, we practiced taking one topic/idea and stretching it out with detail using lots of descriptive language. We had A LOT of fun rotating through this centre! At the end of seeing all 5 groups, our class had put a few paragraphs together on what they think goes on behind closed doors!
Note: This is a work in progress

Our first group brainstormed interesting leads that would hook in our readers!

Our second group worked on 2 ideas and ensuring they included the 5Ws when they were explaining their idea.  We are trying really hard to ensure our ideas have complete sentences where a reader is able to "see the story" and not be left with any missing pieces.

Our third group continued expanding on ideas, adding transition sentences and
highlighting descriptive language!
We also had a good laugh at the "make up catastrophe" that Mrs. Cantafio was wearing.
We talked about ensuring we are using the RIGHT words :) - and knowing what they mean.
#LoveYah17!

Our last group worked on "phrasing" such as "rumour has it", "it was shared with me" a
nd "So, Maybe the next time..."

Stay tuned for our independent student stories coming soon!
